NOTE: The Lighthouse Grounds, Museum and Gift Shop are now open 7 days a week, from 10:30 to 4:30 through May 23, weather permitting.  Hours will lengthen as the summer progresses. (The Lighthouse Tower remains closed to the public because of Covid restrictions.  Watch this space for any changes.)

Phase I of the Tower Restoration was completed during 2019. This phase of the restoration included repairing the metal at the top of the tower and stripping the paint off the limestone exterior.

Phase II, a major part of this restoration, is about to begin in 2020 with an estimated cost of $700,000. The second phase calls for repairing masonry and mortar joints, as well as restoring the iconic Lantern Gate as seen in the photo.

Phase III, the final phase, includes the repainting of the Tower and is expected to be completed in 2021.

We need your help during this $1,250,000 restoration, expected to be completed in 2021. The importance of this project is reflected in the grants received from NY State to date totaling $432,000. We’re responsible for raising the balance and are grateful to our growing list of sponsors for helping to make this possible. There are sponsorship opportunities available as we begin Phase II of the restoration. Please contact Nick Racanelli at 516-523-6154 or if you are interested in sponsoring the restoration of the Lantern Gate or another piece of this Historical Restoration.

With your support it’s possible to keep its light lit for decades to come.
